The British Army has a long-standing tradition of wearing berets, which are used to denote different regiments, corps, and specializations. Each beret color and badge signifies a specific unit or role within the army.

History of the Beret in the British Army
The beret was first introduced in the 1920s for tank crews (Royal Tank Regiment).

Became more widely adopted during and after World War II for elite units like the Commandos and Parachute Regiment.

By the 1970s, most British Army units had adopted berets as part of their standard uniform.
